SEND Roller Disco sessions
These sessions are designed to be as inclusive as possible!
We are running SEND Roller Disco sessions (one a month) with the next two being May 30th and June 27th. Both are Fridays, with the sessions running 5.30 to 6.30pm
Al Jordan Roller Discos welcome everyone, no matter their skill level. Our fun sessions are designed for those who may feel overwhelmed at regular discos—whether it's the bright lights, loud music, crowded spaces, or feeling out of place in a chair. In these sessions, there's no judgment, and all are invited.
About SEND Session
Skaters in chairs are welcome to attend, and have the option to hire skates to feel more involved
Participants that can operate a power chair themselves are welcome to "skate" on their own
If you are in a wheelchair and need to be pushed, it's not necessary for the person pushing the wheelchair to skate. There will be skate guards present to help push, but they aren't able to offer a one-to-one service for the entire session as there may be others that need to be supervised during these events
We are using the same hall space, lighting and sound system as the main Roller Disco events, but with everything "tuned down". There will be 6 main lights on to reduce the impact of our disco lighting, the sound system will run at a reduced volume to prevent it being overwhelming, and the number of attendees is limited to ensure everyone has the space they need to be themselves.
We will announce one game in the middle of the session, and this will be a game of tag played with foam batons to prevent the skate guards from getting too close or touching other skaters to again try and make everyone more comfortable
Price
Tickets are £10 entry, £1 skate hire and every entry allows a carer (if a carer is required and wants to) to skate for free. Skate hire is required if you do not have your own
